Speak, don't type: reduce RSI and increase work productivity by dictating text and controlling your PC by voice. This course, is of particular benefit to users wishing to prevent or reduce the impact of RSI, however it is also useful for those who would like to type less and eventually increase their productivity once the softwre is familiar. It gives an introduction to Nuance's Dragon NaturallySpeaking voice activated software. At the end of the course, the student will be able to control his/her PC and produce notes and documents by voice.
This is a CD-ROM-based video presentation on Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 7 (voice recognition software). Designed for both new and practised users of Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 7, presenter Dan Newman visually guides you through key topics and skills, whilst suggesting various useful hints and tips. Each volume takes approximately 2 hours. The video is designed to complement the printed User Guide and taught courses (manpower permitting, one-to-one tuition is available from the Computing Service).
The rise of Work Related Upper Limb Disorders (WRULD - formerly known as RSI) results in varying degrees of pain and discomfort in the upper limbs, back and neck. Ergonomic workstation setup is often overlooked but is a critical part of healthy computing and is often one of the root causes of a WRULD. This course will introduce the user to the common workstation problems and show some basic alterations that can be made to create an ergonomic environment that is less stressful to the body.
