This tutorial explains Java programming using animated demos to illustrate concepts such as threads, controls and advanced API elements. Exercises are provided to test understanding of the material. Also included are a Java compiler, debugger and applet viewer, hints and tips on design, working lessons from the C and C++ tutorials, and a reference section of Java syntax and API structures. The book referred to is provided on the CD (Java eadme.txt, Javachaptersintroduction.txt etc).

This 'crash course' will teach you the layout of the keyboard in about one hour. It is suitable for those just learning to start to type who want a 'quick start' approach.

This is a Mac Pro Video tutorial on Mac OS. The DVD can be used on both Macs (although advertised as being usable under Windows, we have had no success in doing so).

A set of 2-hour tutorials on CD-ROMs on Macintosh System OS X. As exercises are not provided, it is not necessary to have this version of the system installed.

The Computing Service now offers an introductory course on Matlab. Various other resources are available as described below.

This is the Excel Course

This is a CD-ROM-based video presentation on Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 7 (voice recognition software). Designed for both new and practised users of Dragon NaturallySpeaking Version 7, presenter Dan Newman visually guides you through key topics and skills, whilst suggesting various useful hints and tips. Each volume takes approximately 2 hours. The video is designed to complement the printed User Guide and taught courses (manpower permitting, one-to-one tuition is available from the Computing Service).

'The Online Netskills Interactive Course' (TONIC) is a web-based learning course on using the Internet. TONIC is an easy-to-understand, structured course, offering step-by-step, practical guidance on main Internet topics. The course is intended for beginners to networking who have some familiarity with computers. The course provides an introduction to the Internet and computer networks in general.

The skills and knowledge covered in this publication will allow you to become quickly proficient in the changes and new features introduced in Microsoft Office 2007. Access 2007 is not included in this course.

This short on-line course is for anyone who will be using the Cambridge University Financial System (CUFS) for the first time. Completion is a pre-requisite for delegates attending subsequent courses that specialise in certain parts of the system.

iProcurement, or iProc for short, is an internet way of ordering goods and services linked to an electronic Marketplace that contains hundreds and thousands of products. iProcurement is a new application accessed via the Cambridge University Finance System (CUFS).
